Homemade ketchup – recipe

We cook homemade ketchup for the winter according to a very easy recipe.

Ingredients for homemade ketchup

  • Tomatoes – 2 kg
  • bell pepper – 5 pcs.
  • onion – 5 pcs.
  • sugar – 150 g
  • salt – 2 tsp
  • hot pepper – to taste
  • starch – 2 tbsp.
  • vinegar 9% – 50 ml

Making homemade ketchup

Remove the skin from the tomatoes (throw in boiling water for 30 seconds), peel the onion and pepper . Vegetables need to be ground in mashed potatoes and cooked for 2-3 hours (so that excess liquid boils away).

Next, add all the spices. Boil with spices for 15-20 minutes. In a blender, grind the tomato mixture until smooth.

Pour 0.5 cups of ketchup, cool, add starch, stir. Add vinegar to the rest of the ketchup.

Combine ketchup with starch and ketchup with vinegar, bring to a boil. Remove from heat.

If you want to prepare ketchup for the winter, then the hot sauce should be laid out in hot sterilized jars and rolled up with lids.
