Wooden flower box – with your own hands
A wooden box is a great alternative to an outdoor flower bed. The flower bed is stationary, and the box can be easily moved and quickly change the atmosphere in the yard or terrace. Wooden pots can cover a hatch or other unsightly object.
The ideas for wooden flower boxes are so beautiful and varied that you want to make and plant plants in them. Wooden boxes can be varied: tall,low, long, narrow, square, rectangular on legs, without legs, with support for climbing plants or even with a bench or coloredcolored, it all depends on needs and imagination.
For a wooden pot (it all depends on the size of the pot) we need:
Boards (wooden or terraced) 50×100 mm for making the bottom;
Boards 50×200 mm for side walls;
Board 20×90 mm, the front part will be made from it;
Stainless steel screws or nails;
Chain-link mesh to create a drainage system;
Plastic wrap (or plastic for the foundation) for additional protection of the tree from moisture.
First you need to develop a layout of the structure in accordance with your needs (wide length, height), and make a drawing. It is better to plan the composition in advance so that the flower boxes organically fit into the design of the terrace or courtyard . For example, if they are planned to be placed along the wall, then you need to measure the distance so that you do not have to redo it later.
According to the drawing, we cut the boards to make boxes;
We fasten the lower and side boards;
We nail the front and back walls;
Cut out a piece of mesh of the desired size and attach it to the bottom with a stapler;
We cover the film to the height of the earth, above the drainage gutter we make several holes for the drainage of excess water .
We treat with a water-repellent liquid or paint.
It remains only to pour the earth and plant the rocks. This simple design makes it easy to stack flower boxes on top of each other and create a multi-level flower garden.
