Plants for an alpine slide
An alpine slide or rock garden is a piece of mountain nature in the yard, or a mountain flower garden made of stones of different sizes, which raise flowers higher from the ground, imitating a mountain particle of nature, and ornamental plants enhance the effect of mountains. Planting plants on an alpine slide should be started in early spring.
Before planting plants on an alpine slide, place them evenly in pots throughout the rock garden, step back a few steps and see if you have arranged the plants well. This is necessary in order to determine the most natural effect. It should also be taken into account the speed of development, the duration of flowering of plants. For the normal development of plants, the illumination of the slide, acidity, composition, nutritional value, water permeability of the soil is very important.

Choosing plants for an alpine slide
The overall style of landscape design and the alpine slide should complement each other. Plants for the slide in most cases are chosen the same ones that grow in the yard, only in a smaller size.
With the help of perennials, the basis of an alpine slide is created. First of all, we plant low-growing, decorative and unpretentious, perennial plants that will be the basis for the slide. They combine perfectly with other plants, both perennials and annuals.
Plants that are always present in the design of an alpine slide

Ground cover plants
This is a huge number of ground cover plants, which, during their development, easily occupy empty areas and cover stones with small green and colored rugs. Ground cover plants: daisies, Carpathian bellflower, saxifrage, breakage, ground cover phloxes, thyme, alpine strawberries, yarrow, carnations, edelweiss, ivy, bacopa, decorative periwinkle, succulents and others.

Flowering plants
Flowering plants fill in the empty spaces and with the help of these plants we make bright spots on the slide. The most preferred flowering plants for the alpine slide are: pelargonium, mini roses, gerberas, cockerels, primroses, rhododendrons and many other plants.

Bulbous plants
With the help of bulbous plants, our hill will bloom in early spring, and give a real piece of mountain spring nature. Bulbous plants: crocuses, irises, mini tulips, muscari and others. You need to plant bulbous flowers in the fall.

Conifers, evergreens
The basis for the formation of a rock garden is: low-growing or dwarf coniferous shrubs. With the help of these plants, we create the mountainous part of our alpine slide. It is best to use dwarf conifers, namely: dwarf firs, pines, thuja, larches and others.
Decorating an alpine slide
The rock garden, made of stones of different sizes and colors, has aesthetic appeal, and planting plants enhances the decorative effect. The alpine slide should not be decorated with artificial elements, such décor spoils the effect of a natural slide.
