Very small seeds are quite difficult to sow, but with our tips it will be much easier for you to do so.
In this article, we will look at several ways to sow equally small seeds.
Sowing small seeds mixed with sand
Sowing small seeds with sand is the oldest way to sow seeds evenly, it consists in the fact that the seeds must be mixed with dry and fine sand in small quantities ( 1: 4 to 1:10). In addition to sand, seeds can be mixed with used dried tea leaves (preferably from bags) or ground coffee grounds. For 1 tsp. seeds, half a glass of dry tea drinking waste is required.
The seeds are thoroughly mixed with the bulk mass in any container with a flat bottom, and then the resulting mixture is taken with a pinch and sprinkled with a moist substrate prepared in advance. Small seeds (except strawberries and strawberries) germinate quickly, so the crops must be covered with foil to avoid drying out the sprouts. And when abundant shoots already appear, the cockroach should be removed.
Tips for gardeners: for sowing small seeds, some gardeners use: syringe (cut off the lower part with a seal at the needle cap, and cut off its top at an angle, put the cap on the syringe – the seeder is ready); container from the kinder surprise with holes made, a salt shaker.
Sowing small seeds with a sheet of paper
You can also sow small seeds for seedlings in a container using an ordinary sheet of paper, pencil or toothpick.
It is enough just to bend the paper diagonally and pour it onto the fold of the seeds, tilt the leaf slightly and use a sharp pencil lead to roll the seeds one at a time onto the prepared soil substrate.
Sowing small seeds on toilet paper
In a container on a moistened substrate, put thin strips of toilet paper. Pour the seeds onto a dry, light-colored plate or saucer to make them more visible. Pour water into a glass. Dip the pencil rod into it so that a drop of water remains on it. With this droplet, hook the seeds and transfer them to a strip of toilet paper. The water will quickly be absorbed and pull the seed with it. Sprinkle the strips with a thin layer of sand and cover the container with foil.
Sowing small seeds in the snow
Put snow with a layer of 1.5-2 cm on the soil prepared in a container with a spoon.
You can pour seeds from a bag onto it (they will be clearly visible on a white background) and use a toothpick to evenly distribute them over the surface. If you pre-soaked the seed material, then it is easier to place it on the snow using a pipette.
When the snow melts, it will drag the seeds into the substrate, in addition, moisten it, so watering is not required at the initial stage. Just cover the container with foil or glass and wait for germination.
