According to experts, various vertical structures, including flower beds made of frames, can add originality and volume to the garden landscape. They will need special supports, but everyone can make them with their own hands. One of the ways to create a unique garden landscape is vertical gardening with the help of climbing plants, in which the branches rise 1.5 – 1.8 m above the ground.

You can create unique flower designs using lightweight frames of various sizes and shapes. The most affordable and cheapest material for such compositions are wooden blocks, slats, dry tree branches. But you can also use thin tubes and aluminum profiles. They are easy to bend and combine into the desired design, especially tubes – for this you will need metal or wooden pins.

Figure 1. The simplest and easiest to implement is the design, which is made of two inclined frames, which are made of slats
Figure 2. In addition to inclined contractions, the composition of several vertical risers is also interesting
The simplest design, easy to perform, can be made of two inclined frames made of rails (Figure 1). Each frame rests from below on the ends of a wooden box, partially sunk in the ground, and concrete blocks are placed under its corner joints. They are a kind of foundation and do not allow the box to go deep into the ground or tilt, which ensures the stability of the entire structure.
To protect the wooden parts of the box and inclined frames, they are covered with paint, varnish or special protective liquids against decay. Alley, in addition to inclined structures, the composition of several vertical risers folded into a figure resembling a bookcase is interesting (Figure 2). Risers with a height of 150 – 180 cm and a section of 20×40 are fixed together not only with horizontal bars, but also with slatted shelves on which additional pots with plants can be placed.
From below, all risers are fixed to a wooden box with self-tapping screws to ensure the stability of the structure in gusts of wind. It is better to paint this flower garden with white enamel to protect against decay and to achieve harmony with the greenery of the garden. Many people like the design of frame flower beds, which are created by four inclined poles, shaped like a Christmas tree. Each inclined riser is just a dry tree trunk resting on a disc of metal (Figure 3). At the top, all four poles are connected to each other. Inclined and horizontal elements are attached with a string or wire. Climbing plants crawl upwards, clinging to the frame with their tendrils and creating a green pyramid.

A similar design is shown in Figure 4, where the support for flowers and climbing plants is made up of four triangles. Compositionally, they are all combined and create a kind of bouquet 75 – 80 cm high. Horizontal crossbars in triangles are used as supports for wooden shelves, on which flower pots are placed. The crown of this mini-ensemble is a large ceramic vessel that unites the structure. Here again, the fragments of the structure rest on concrete cubes, thanks to which the vertical flower garden holds its position.

The original shape can be achieved if the flower garden is made of aluminum tubes that can be bent at will (Figure 5), and this design can become the center of any garden. In this design, each half-arch is fixed on the boards with pins, this is the solid base of the frame. Half arches of different sizes are connected with thin wire or synthetic thread.
