How to care for ginger in a pot

After the appearance of green shoots, the plant needs appropriate care, if you properly care for ginger, you can wait for flowering.

Ginger loves warmth and moisture, our main task for growing high-quality roots is to provide frequent watering, warmth and sufficient air humidity.

Despite the fact that ginger is a photophilous plant, direct sunlight can be dangerous for it, so the best place is: bright diffused light, or partial shade.

You need to water often and little by little. To prevent water from stagnating and the roots from rotting, gently loosen the soil after each watering. Overdrying the soil will lead to the death of the young ginger root. The air humidity should be high, so you need to spray the plant 2 times a day. Don’t forget about fertilizer! Like any growing organism, ginger needs mineral and organic fertilizers. Top dressing is done every 10 days, alternating fertilizers.

After flowering, when the leaves and stems are completely dry, the rhizomes are removed, cleaned of soil, stems, and small roots.
