He needs care in spring, summer, and autumn. If you pruned the grapes in the spring, this does not mean that you can forget about pruning this season. In the summer, it also needs to be pruned. If you have not done summer pruning, then in the fall it will be difficult for you to find bunches of grapes in the grape &#8220;thickets&#8221;.     <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most grape varieties are prone to stepchildren. A stepson is an additional vine that appears and grows in the axils of the leaves, stepchildren draw the strength and nutrients of the grapes for their growth, and not for the ripening of bunches. To avoid this, these shoots must be removed. Then the vine will direct its efforts and focus them on the ripening of the crop.   <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How to properly remove stepson from grapes? To do this, pinch off with your hands (or cut off with pruning shears) the shoot above the second leaf. In addition, stepchildren thicken the bushes and prevent sunlight and wind from penetrating into the crown. From this, fungal infections develop and berries ripen poorly. This is another reason why stepchildren should be removed.      <\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Removing grape leaves<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together with stepchildren, you also need <strong>to remove grape leaves<\/strong> so that sunlight falls on each bunch. Thanks to this, the berries are sweet and ripen earlier. First, those leaves that cast a shadow on the bunches are removed. Then cut off those that grow below. All these actions will contribute to better air circulation &#8211; good ventilation and sunlight will protect the bushes from fungal diseases.    <\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Removing bunches of grapes<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experts also advise removing not only shoots and leaves, but also berries. Too large a harvest can be an unbearable burden for the bush. The berries will be small and sour. Therefore, all diseased, damaged or poorly developing fruits must be removed.   <\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">. . . . . .<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Watering grapes in summer<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do grapes need <strong>to be watered in summer<\/strong>? The answer is unequivocal &#8211; yes, it is necessary, especially if the summer turned out to be dry and hot. In July, it is necessary to pour 10-20 liters of water under the bush once a week. And the reason is not only that the roots of the bush will dry out. The problem may arise just when the long-awaited rain falls after a long dry period. When sharp moisture appears, the berries will immediately crack. To prevent this, regular watering is required. To retain moisture in the soil, we recommend using mulch. The soil under the bushes can be mulched with mowed grass, sawdust, etc.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Protection of grapes from diseases<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Various fungal infections pose a great danger to grapes: powdery mildew, mildew (downy mildew), gray rot, etc.<a href=\"https:\/\/kvitkainfo.com\/sad-gorod\/hvorobi-ta-shkidniki-vinogradu_-foto.html\"><\/a><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is better not to wait for pests to attack your bush, but to take preventive measures. You can start them as soon as the berries become the size of a small pea &#8211; about 5 mm.
