After all, it is this month that peonies can be propagated, and flower buds are also formed for the next year. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to propagating peonies in August, you also need to find time to care for young and mature bushes so that next year they bloom profusely.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reproduction of peonies by dividing the bush in August  <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best time for planting and propagating peonies is the second half of August and all of September. It is by mid-August that the plants form buds for the next year, so you should not transplant peonies either earlier or later. For this procedure, it is better to choose herbaceous peonies at the age of 4-5 years, tree peonies &#8211; 5-6 years. You can divide the bushes less often, once every 10 years, but it will be physically more difficult to do this due to the large size of the root system.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Propagation of peonies by seeds<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August, you can collect peony seeds and plant them in a prepared area. Plants will germinate in 1.5 years, and bloom only after 6 years. The resulting specimens will not retain the varietal characteristics of the mother bush, but they can make interesting plants with an unusual color and shape of flowers.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kvitkainfo.com\/roslini-vidkritogo-gruntu\/pioni-visadzhuvannya-doglyad.html\">How to plant peonies in open ground<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pruning peonies for the winter<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you start planting peonies, after digging, you need to cut off yellowed dry leaves and old stems, leaving shoots 5-7 cm long.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both young and adult bushes of herbaceous peonies need annual pruning. Pruning is carried out in the fall (in October-November), which allows the plants to rest after flowering and prepare for the cold. To do this, cut off all shoots, leaving a few centimeters above the soil. Sprinkle the slices with ash at the rate of 2-3 handfuls per bush.     <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top dressing of peonies in August<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In summer, feeding peonies is an important element of care for the formation of flower buds for the next year. In early August, young and old bushes need to be fed with mullein infusion diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 or phosphorus and potash fertilizers, after watering, add 20-30 g of superphosphate and 10-15 potassium sulfate diluted in 10 liters of water under each bush. It is worth adding 1 tablet of microfertilizers to the solution. Top dressing can also be applied dry, poured into the furrows around the perimeter of the bush.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freshly planted peonies do not need fertilizer, because you have already introduced everything you need into the planting hole. From the second year, you can gradually begin to feed the plants. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caring for peonies in August also includes other work:<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Watering (in dry summers) so that they bloom well next year (6-7 liters of water for each bush), by the end of the month, watering is gradually reduced;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>loosening the soil after watering and rains;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>weeding;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mulching with humus or peat;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the prevention of diseases and pests, spraying peonies with a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid or copper oxychloride (40 g per 10 liters of water).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August is very important for peony lovers.
